Wisconsin Chapter

When you think of Wisconsin, nicknames like “The Badger State” and “America’s Dairyland” may come to mind. However, Wisconsin also has the distinction of being the “Birthplace of Our Community Listens”.

It was in the Phillips area that Cynthia Chapman had the inspiration to take this outside the workplace and into the community, and she and Bob made this happen with the formation of their non-profit Phillips LISTENS, Inc. They felt the need to make this a gift to the world. The community pilot class was held in Phillips in March of 2010. Participants included family members of BW-Papersystems (then MarquipWardUnited) associates. Later that same year, classes in Green Bay launched.

Phillips and Green Bay continue to be serviced by the organization with classes and alumni opportunities, and the Wisconsin chapter is growing! To further spread the gift of strengthening both personal and professional relationships using our communication skills, Mequon was added in September 2016, thus providing our learning opportunity to southeastern Wisconsin. Fond du Lac and the Oneida Community Education Center were added in 2018 as we look to connect with community members in the Fox River Valley, as well as members of the Oneida Nation. With over 800 alumni throughout Wisconsin, we are touching the lives of people through our powerful message. We give each participant the tools that help them be a better parent, partner, and person.
