Name: Jennifer Beth Chapman
OCL role: Operations Specialist
Day Job: I am a stay at home mom to 3 busy children that are growing up very fast! I also have many volunteer hats in my community.
How I got involved in OCL: I attended the first class offered in Charleston, SC years ago and it was an amazing experience for me as a mother, family member, friend, and all around person! I always thought when my children were older, that I would like to be involved on some level to help spread the word and bring the class to others. I feel lucky to get a chance to be involved with such a purposeful organization!
My hope for OCL: That the organization continues to organically grow and thrive, and change as it needs, to be the most successful! Enabling classes, as well as continuing education, all over the world in business, government, schools, and everyday life for anyone that would like to learn to effectively communicate! I believe our future world depends on it!
How do I use what I learned in CST: Most importantly listening when someone needs to be heard! (Child or anyone) I have a tendency to get excited, possibly interrupt and try to give well intentioned advice or positive feedback…NOT the thing to do! If I still make this mistake, I try and try again with ears only and quiet understanding. It is a constant work in progress for me, but I am so thankful for the awareness!
3 things that make me smile: - Waking up grateful everyday
- my 3 precious children, huge family, and all the amazing & diverse people in my life
- connecting people who become friends
3 words to describe me: - Happy
